"As long as no significant change is observed in the approach of the opposite side towards the Iranian people, our policy will be clear and unchangeable,” Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters in Tehran on Monday as he elaborated on Iran’s definite stance on holding direct talks with the US.
He added that no direct negotiations are on Iran’s agenda as the US is leveling accusations against the country on a daily basis.
“However, the path of indirect negotiations remains open,” the top Iranian diplomat emphasized.
Araghchi added that Iran would not waste any opportunity to safeguard national interests.
US President Donald Trump has said in an interview with Fox News earlier in March that he had sent a letter to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, warning Iran to open talks on a nuclear deal or be handled militarily.
Meanwhile, the US imposed new sanctions on Iran in line with Trump's so-called policy of maximum pressure.
Iran said it will not engage in talks with the United States unless negotiations are free from pressure and threats.
In his New Persian Year speech on March 21, Ayatollah Khamenei warned the United States against using the language of threats against Iran.
The Americans should know that in dealing with Iran, they can never get anywhere using threats, the Leader added.
