Imam Hussain (PBUH) school of thought promotes progressive Islam

The late founder of the Islamic Republic stressed that Imam Hussain (PBUH)'s school of thought promotes progressive Islam.

Imam Khomeini, the contemporary leader of the Muslim world frequently said that Imam Hussain’s school of thought should be promoted and its universal message should be introduced for entire humanity.

Imam recommended all clerics, clergymen and preachers to deliver lectures and speeches with pure intentions at religious gatherings with lofty goal of elevating the Muslim societies towards intellectual, spiritual and moral awareness and growth.

It has been widely reported in basic authentic Islamic resources that the holy prophet of Islam also said:  “Truly Hussein is the lamp for guidance and the ark for salvation.”

Imam Hussain (PBUH) also made matchless efforts to revive the divine teachings at very sensitive juncture of history. In addition to that, the sacrifices presented by Imam Hussein (PBUH) put a final nail into coffin of tyranny and cruelty.

According to Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, one of the most important divine principles of Ashura has been “commanding for good and forbidding from the bad,” implementation of such message could prevent the human societies from falling into pits of moral and social decline.

The 3rd of Shaban – coincides with birth anniversary of Imam Hussain (PBUH), the grandson of the holy prophet of Islam and one of his truthful infallible successors.

The day is also marked to honor Islamic guards and volunteer forces who defend the Islamic country , its sovereignty and divine values.

We bring some phrases from Imam Khomeini’s historic speeches and messages regarding the occasion as following:

Date: June 27, 1979 [Tīr 6, 1358 AHS / Sha‘bān 2, 1399 AH]

Place: Qum

Subject: Explaining the duties of the Islamic guards vis-à-vis Islam and the Revolution

I wish to thank all my countrymen, especially, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, on this auspicious day, the third of Sha‘bān al-Mu‘azzam, the day of the emergence of the Islamic guards and the protection of the progressive school of Islam. We should rightly name this day as “Pāsdār Day” [Islamic Guards Day]. It is the great and blessed birthday of the guardian of the Holy Qur’an and dear Islam, one who sacrificed everything he had for the sake of his aim, thus saving Islam from the precipice of deviation of the tāghūtī Banī Umayyad regime.

Had it not been for the sacrifice made by the magnificent guardian of Islam and the brave martyrdom of his great fellow guardians and devoted companions, Islam, under the suppression of the Banī Umayyads and their tyrannical rule, would have been portrayed in an inverted manner, and all the trouble taken by the Noble Messenger and his dedicated companions would have been wasted.                                                                           Sahifeh-ye-Imam, Vol.8, page 281
