Iranian president, cabinet members pledge allegiance with Imam Khomeini's ideals

The Iranian president and his cabinet members visited the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini to reaffirm allegiance to the ideals of the late founder of the Islamic Republic at the outset of the Administration Week.

As the events marking the Administration Week in Iran began on Saturday, Pezeshkian and his ministers visited the shrine of Imam Khomeini in southern Tehran to reaffirm their commitment to the path of the late leader.

Speaking at the commemorative ceremony in the shrine, Pezeshkian said that Imam Khomeini had paid a special attention to the oppressed class of the society, so his government priority would also be to attend and resolve their sufferings.

The president said, pointing out that Imam Khomeini’s views were focused on the underprivileged people, boosting unity and cohesion of the entire Islamic society.

Therefore, we must seek the rights of the people of the society and show our belief in what we say in our actions. We believe and we will stand by the pledge we made with the people based on right, justice and fairness until the end.

He thanked the Iranian Parliament for the votes of confidence to his ministerial picks, describing it as the first step towards national consensus.

The sole way to resolve the internal problems and rise to the challenges is stronger domestic unity and solidarity, the president said.

Pezeshkian pledged that his administration will be frank with the Iranian people and act on the basis of justice and the truth.

He further pointed to the Israeli regime’s heinous crimes in Gaza, noting that if the Muslim people had been closely united, the Zionist regime, the US and Europe would not have dared to take hostile measures or commit crimes in the region.

“The enemy is attempting to foment division in the society. They (enemies) desperately want us not to be unified, so that we need to do something to not be deceived by the enemy and maintain our unity and solidarity,” Pezeshkian stated.

Pezeshkian was elected as the ninth president of Iran after his predecessor Ebrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash on May 19.

Speaking at the ceremony, Seyyed Hassan Khomeini emphasized that making a pledge has been a very important throughout the history of humanity.

The grandson of founder of the Islamic Republic said that Dr. Pezeshkian has always used many references to Nahj al-Balagha, which is a peak of eloquence which contains letter, sermons and testaments by Imam Ali (‘a).

In Malik's Ashtar covenant, Imam Ali has presented an interpretation about the covenant, which is one of the masterpieces of Nahj al-Balagha. Imam ‘Ali recommends to Malik as following:

"If you establish a bond between yourself and your enemies, strengthen it with loyalty."

In this section, it has been stressed that it is a very important “that if you make a promise and are not trustworthy, you have betrayed.”

The grandson of the late founder of the Islamic Republic said humanity has learned from the experience that if it does not keep its promise, it will suffer.  Betrayal of promise and covenant may have a short-term joy, but the temporary benefits of are of no value.

"Apart from Muslims, polytheists are also obliged to fulfill this promise."

Seyyed Hassan Khomeini said that "we in recent months have seen honesty and fluffiness of promises by the president and his faithfulness to the principles of the revolution and ideals of Imam has been of great significance." Emphasizing the government's loyalty to its promises, he said.

“Thank God, what the people have seen in by the president during these three, four months is "honesty" and "keeping his promise". “And what they expect the most is "honesty" and "steadfastness and commitment and adhere to its principles.”
