Fathi al-Qasimi, a professor at Tunisia’s university of zaitunah made remarks during a recently-held meeting with Mahdi Beighi, the acting head of Iranian culture center in the North African country.
The professor who had paid a visit to Imam’s house during a trip to Tehran appreciated Imam’s simple lifestyle and compared it with luxurious palaces of kings.
The academic maintained the Iran’s Islamic Revolution was quite different from other movements’ since it was led by divine personality such as great Imam.
The Tunisian professor also recalled historic moments of Imam’s return from French city of Nofel Lashato to Tehran after spending several years in exile.
The intellectual appreciated Imam’s courage during tough times against the Pahlavi regime and its foreign supporters who had threatened to explode the airplane which was carrying Imam and his companions.
Imam’s landmark return was led to victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
It is noteworthy that the recent meeting at the Iranian culture center was also attended by Shams al-Din al-Aouni, a prominent Tunisian journalist and Smair al-Adli, the well-known poet and some other cultural and academic personalities.
The academic figures also hailed cultural works undertaken by the Iranian culture center in Tunisia and offered to extend bilateral cooperation between the two nations in academic and literary fields.
The intellectuals showed his great interest in Persian literature and works of some leading poets such as Hafiz and Sa’adi and sought help from Iran to promote their precious works among the young Tunisian generation.
